Authors Richard J. Mouw and Robert L. Millet will appear together at Eerdmans Bookstore next Wednesday, January 9, 4:00-6:00 p.m.
The two theologians will share how their own conversation began many years ago — and how it has developed over time — as they reflect on the state of Mormon-evangelical dialogue in America today.
Time will be allotted after the talk for both authors to sign books, answer questions, and visit with those who attend. During the event, all in-stock titles by either author will be on sale at the bookstore for 40% off the cover price.
Richard J. Mouw is president of Fuller Seminary and author of a number of Eerdmans titles, including his recent volume Talking with Mormons: An Invitation to Evangelicals.
In this short, friendly treatise Mouw draws on his more than ten years of participation in Mormon-evangelical theological dialogue to show why it is necessary to move beyond stark denunciation and into a conversation that allows both parties to express differences and explore common ground.
Robert L. Millet is Richard L. Evans Professor of Religious Understanding and professor of ancient scripture at Brigham Young University.
He is also author of A Different Jesus? The Christ of the Latter-day Saints, an engaging book that reexamines the foundational Mormon documents to explain clearly why Latter-day Saints claim to be Christians and to compare their understanding of Jesus with the views of traditional Christian believers.
